The “lime_lab – laboratory for interdisciplinary radio drama” was launched last year with a competition for innovative radio drama. The aim was to forge new links between language, technical equipment and sound in a space for experimentation. The author Helmut Schranz swayed the judges with a concept centred on the experimental text “Kleiner Pelz StrichCode Suada”. This concept is now being turned into a radio drama, with an added visual component, on show at Forum Stadtpark in the form of an “HörRaumInstallation” until the end of the steirischer herbst festival.
Schranz provided a text that was associatively fragmented and reassembled by the voices – i.e., the co-authors – and the composer Martin Pichler. These fragments formed the starting point for free improvisations and discussions that were condensed into a radio drama composition reflecting the constitution of our post-democratic society. The 90th birthday of the Styrian cultural doyen Emil Breisach was the occasion for the competition initiated by Akademie Graz, Forum Stadtpark, Literaturhaus Graz, ORF Steiermark and steirischer herbst.
